I grew up in Hammond Indiana, in the Northwestern part of Indiana. I am an Honors College freshman student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. I am majoring in Exercise Science on the pre-dental track. I chose IUPUI because I wanted to make different connections with different people in a new city. I have always wanted to be a part of the healthcare environment because I have always taken care of people who are important to me. The kindness I have developed from my mother has shown how compassionate I can be with people and their hardships. Learning how to be available for people with rough goings at a young age has taught me how much I wanted to be a part of this environment and be someone people can rely on.

Sports
Soccer
I have played soccer since I was 5 years old. My parents have put me in this sport due to their love for it and I am very thankful for them that they have because it has shaped me in the best way possible. I also made it to my high school's varsity team when I was a freshman. It has shaped me to become physically healthy and helped me to forget about the mental stress I had with homework and the outside world. Unfortunately, it was cut short due to an ACL injury I experienced in my senior year of high school. I continue to work on some skills I have but I don't play competitively anymore because I do not want to risk another injury.

Tennis
I started playing tennis in my junior year of high school. I was motivated to join by my sister who played since freshmen year and it looked interesting when I saw her play. So I decided to join and I ended up making varsity second doubles which was amazing because I never knew I could be good at a new sport I have never played before. This has changed my perspective on things by showing me I should try new things and risk myself to be more out there because it can be a wonderful unexpected experience. I gained new friendships and connected with people on a different level which is something I won't forget. However, I also did not get to play tennis my senior year because I was in recovery from my ACL injury. Now I enjoy playing tennis just for fun.

Get to Know Us
Family is everything to me. I have my parents who came from a foreign country to give my siblings and I a better life. I also have a younger sister and brother who help me continue to keep going. They are all and will always be my number one supporters. However, being a first-generation college student from my family has been quite a challenge for me but I want to make them and myself proud for how far I can go. If I could describe my family in one word it would be sacrifice. They have sacrificed their time to do what was best for me and more. They have given their lives so I can live a better future than them and for that I will always carry that to have the courage and motivation to keep pushing.

Diversity Enrichment & Achievement Program
I am a part of Deap which is the Diversity Enrichment & Achievement Program. This program has helped me connect with other first-generation students and helped me adapt to college life. I enjoy being a part of the program because it has shown me I am not alone in this journey. It also refreshing to see diversity in this program and be able to meet different people with different backgrounds.
